Everyone has their own ideas about life and God, most of which their rationale is purely of an intellectual approach. This is nothing new. Since the beginning of time people have always tried to find the answers to life, purely speculating what might be. The Bible shows us how the world began from day one; how God created it AND us, and how we pursued our own interests rather than honoring a relationship with God. Because of that pursuit we are sinners and its because of sin that we are cut off from God. The rest of the Bible is all about God restoring fallen man to a right relationship with Him.
Many a man, in his blind pursuit of God will either bypass the Bible, add to it or subtract from it because it doesn't line up with his thinking. Again, that opens the door to sin and a continual path away from God. Left to ourselves all we have is many voices to which we must "intellectually" decide for ourselves which one is true.
The Bible stands alone. When we believe every word written in the Bible (not just parts of it) then we find truth. Truth is truth. There is no speculation in truth nor can truth be rationalized. That's where faith comes in. This faith is not a blind faith but it is an ever-growing faith which pursues truth not from man's point of view but from the timeless word of God.
Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31-32).
