Preconceived Views of God

2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." If we believe the Bible to be God's revelation for all of mankind then we must make sure that everything preached and taught, and all forms of worship must line up with what we see in God's word. But not all people read God's word and instead have merely made up their own style of worship along with their own view of who God is, His attributes, character, likes and dislikes.

Religion is mans idea of how one must connect with God. But the Bible clearly shows us that we are all sinners and our sins have cut us off from God because God is Holy and cannot be in the presence of sin. But John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world, He sent His Son to die for our sins so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." So the truth remains that NO ONE can connect with God apart from Jesus. So the question we ask for all these religions out there, "who are these people worshipping?" Again, this is not my claim, this is what the Bible says. So now one must either trust the bible, do what it says and worship God on His terms or deny the claims of the bible and its inspiration and worship God however one desires. The truth is, people don't like it when their world view is shaken. They don't like to be told they don't know what they're talking about. And they don't want to spend the time digging and searching for what is really true. Instead people listen to the loudest voices or stick with what everyone else is doing or what they've always done. But just because everyone has been doing it that way does not make it truth.

As we read the Bible we see how God created the earth and everything in it including people. If we are to take the Bible seriously we will believe the creation account over evolution. If we believe the Bible then we will believe that dinosaurs were created on the 6th day with all the other animals that God created. If we believe the Bible to be true then mankind is not 100's of millions of years old but rather 6000-8000 years as we see in the bible. All this to say, we either take the Bible as God's inspired word and line up all life and the questions pertaining to our existence along with the earth and the entire universe or we speculate how everything came to be, how we are to live, who God is and how we are to connect with Him.

There are many claims about God that are far from what the bible claims. Once we have this tainted view of God then even our most devoted worship is being offered to a false god. Thats why God says "You shall have no other god's before me." In order to worship the One True God, we must know the one true God and the only way we can truly know this God is through His written word. Anything else is merely guess work.

In Jeremiah 29:13, God says, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." The problem is people aren't seeking God with all their heart so they haven't truly found Him, rather they have found a counterfeit god created by man.

I'm sure this raised more questions. But questions are good. Thats how we find answers. Thats how we begin to know why we believe what we believe. <><
